Blackjack is usually played with 4 to 6 of 52-card decks.

The 2-10 cards are worth their number value, while face cards are worth 10 and the ace counts as 1 or 11.

The aim of the game is for the player to beat the dealer’s hand. The sum of the cards should be greater than the dealer’s hand, but cannot exceed 21. In the event of a draw, bets remain in the pot.The dealer must draw a card on 16 and stay on 17.

There are 7 boxes with 3 positions (for three players); the player who has placed a bet in the first position “speaks” (decides) in the box.

Bets are placed in the special spots (boxes) before any card is turned over.

Two cards are dealt to each box and one to the dealer.

After cards are dealt, NO bets can be added unless there is a split or a double down.

Split = separating two identical cards and playing them in two boxes.

Double down = with cards worth from 2 to 11 points, the bet may be doubled, receiving just one additional card.

In both cases, only the value of the initial bet may be placed.

On an ace split, only one additional card is drawn and it cannot be a blackjack, only a 21.

There are four choices to play:

• draw a card, or “hit”

• stand (request no more cards)

• double down

• split a pair

A blackjack is an ace and a 10 or a face card and it always stands 21; a dealer’s blackjack always wins.

Payout:

A winning blackjack (a natural 21 with the first two cards) pays 3 to 2, provided the dealer does not have a blackjack. If that is the case, the player neither wins nor loses (stand-off). All winning bets are paid equally.
Please remember that dealers conduct the game according to certain rules. They cannot advise you as to the amount of your bet nor as to what to bet on; however, they would be happy to help you learn the rules of the game. If you wish to change cash or chips, please wait until a break in the game so you can alert the dealer and place your money on the table.

Card value:

Ace = 1 or 11,  face cards = 10,  all other cards = face value.

  1. The term “hand” in blackjack means the final sum of points awarded to the cards held by each player or the dealer in each round of play.
  2. Any hand exceeding 21 points automatically loses. This means the player (or dealer) busts, or has exceeded 21 points.

Doubling Down:
If the player’s first two cards add up to anything between 2 and 11, the player may choose to double the initial bet and to draw only one additional card.

Splitting:
If the first two cards are of the same value, the player may choose to split them and play them as two separate hands, adding an additional bet equal to the original. The dealer will split the two cards and deal new cards for the two new hands. The cards can only be split once to become two hands. The usual rules apply to all splits, including doubling down. Aces can only be split once and can only draw one additional card. A 21 with two cards on a split is not a blackjack and is paid 1 to 1 if it wins.

Insurance Bet:
If the dealer’s first card is an ace, players have the option of placing insurance bets in case the dealer has a blackjack. In this case, the player may place any bet from half the table minimum up to half of the original bet on the insurance line. If the dealer has a blackjack, the insurance bet is paid 2 to 1. If the dealer does not have a blackjack, the insurance bet is lost.
